This week I went to the Rubin Art Museum to see an exhibition on Henri Cartier-Bresson. Photography is an interest of mine, and Cartier-Bresson is one of the most famous photographers of the past century, so it was an exciting experience for me to witness the work of one of the greats. I really enjoyed walking around the exhibition floor and looking at the photos, whether it was the street photography that he is so famous for, or the multitude of other beautiful shots he created. Being a practitioner of walking around and shooting moments myself, I think I enjoyed the streets shots the most. Since, unlike me, Cartier-Bresson shot on black and white film, I focused on the way he composed his shots, and the interesting dynamics that he created with the subjects and textures present in his photos. Overall, it was a very enjoyable insight into the mind of a great photographer, and I am glad I went.
Unfortunately I was not able to take any photos because they were not allowed.
