This week I worked mostly on getting my prototype to work. I got it to a point where the site gets results from an API and shows them on the page. It is a working prototype and needs to be now pushed further in a creative direction. The hard part for me was to get React to render my results in the way that I wanted, and to get the articles from the API. I was able to resolve my API problems and then got the rendering working. The next step for me is to pick a direction for my project, and go in that direction. That will require me to really think about what I want out of this project and why.
The feedback that I got from showing my project was pretty useful. The biggest pointers were that I should get really specific about something and do that because right now it's fairly broad and simple. I also got some useful feedback on features I could add to my site that would make it more interesting in one way or another. I think the only problem that I really had with the feedback is that everyone has their own idea of what they imagine the final product looking like, and I need to find my own voice and pick only the things that I care about.
