Hello World. (n.d.). Retrieved February 03, 2018, from https://reactjs.org/docs/hello-world.html
This is a reference guide for using ReactJS, a library that I plan to use for making my
web application. React is a powerful tool that allows for easier updating of data on a
page, something that I think is beneficial for the kind of site I’m building. I plan to use
this reference guide to help me in developing the site.

Subramanian, Muralisrinivasan. ( © 2017). Pro mern stack: full stack web app development with
mongo, express, react, and node. [Books24x7 version] Available from
http://common.books24x7.com.proxy.library.nyu.edu/toc.aspx?bookid=125787.

This is a book that I want to use as a tool for learning how to use the mern stack better.
I have already explored using this in another class, but I think I need more practice and
an indepth guide in order to improve my skills and develop a better app. While the first
resource I have is just a guide on React, this book explores every part of the mern stack,
which I plan to use to make my web app.

Krug, S. (2014). Don't Make Me Think, Revisited: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability.
Berkeley, CA: New Riders Publ.

This book is a good source of information for making a better user experience for
websites. One of the goals of the site that I want to make is that it is easy for people
to use, and I think this book will help me achieve that. There is a lot that goes into
good UX, and Steve Krug really dissects it well, and provides practical methods
that are easy to follow. I will probably use this book throughout the development
process as a way to keep myself in check, and to make sure that I make a site that
people come back to.

Examples:

The Onion – America's Finest News Source. (n.d.). Retrieved February 03, 2018, from
https://politics.theonion.com/
The Onion has a website that is really simple, articles are easy to spot, and
separated well into categories. I am not a huge reader of their content, but I
did notice from my few visits that the website is really easy on the eyes. I
think that I would definitely like to borrow this style for my site.

Popular News Sites for Any Topic. (n.d.). Retrieved February 03, 2018, from https://alltop.com/

Alltop is basically the holy grail when it comes to content aggregation. I like that
it is split into categories, and that the content is essentially the only presence on
the pages. I want to create something similar, although on a smaller scale and
more personalized. What I don’t like about Alltop is that there is almost an
overflow of information, and I would like to tone that down on my site.

Customer Service Software & Support Ticket System. (n.d.). Retrieved February 03, 2018, from
https://www.zendesk.com/

Zendesk is a site that I use a lot at work. It’s a resource that allows people to
submit tickets for problems that they have and people like me can look at those

tickets and solve them. It’s a powerful resource that is built on React. What
I like about this site is that tickets and updates to them can be refreshed without
reloading the entire page because of the usage of React. This is a feature that I
want to have in my site because it provides convenience and ease of use, allowing
people to read articles and then have new ones show up when they are available,
without having to reload the page.
